Calculation of λmax of Organic Compounds Using Woodward Fieser Rules
Procedure
- Select Conjugated diene / Ketone / Aromatic.
- For Conjugated diene correlations:
- Enter the Base value in the box.
- Enter the value of Alkyl substituent or Ring residue attached to the parent diene.
- Enter the value of Double bond extending conjugation.
- Enter the value of Exocyclic double bonds.
- Enter the value of Polar groups.
- Enter the total λmax value.
- Click the “Submit” button.
- For α, β Unsaturated Carbonyl compounds or Ketones:
- Enter the Base value.
- Enter the value of Alkyl substituent or Ring residue in α / β / γ / δ position.
- Enter the value of Polar groups in α / β / γ / δ position.
- Enter the value of Double bond extending conjugation.
- Enter the value of Homodiene compound.
- Enter the value of Exocyclic double bonds.
- Enter the total λmax value.
- Click the “Submit” button.
- For Aromatic compounds:
- Enter the Base value.
- Enter the value of Alkyl group or ring residue in ortho / para / meta position.
- Enter the value of Polar groups in ortho / para / meta position.
- Enter the total λmax value.
- Click the “Submit” button.
