Soundness test of aggregates
A. Soundness of Coarse Aggregates
• Click on the link for the test of the coarse aggregate

• Click Assemble to arrange the sieves in descending order with pan at the bottom.

• Click the Tray to pour aggregates into the sieve stack.

• Click the Sieve stack to place it on the shaker.

• Click the Sieve stack to place it on the shaker.

• Click ON to start the sieve shaker and wait for the shaking to complete.

• Click on the lock to take out the sieve stack from the shaker.

• Click on the stack to remove the sieves from the stack.

• Click the Pan to place it on the weighing balance and tare it.

• Click on the sieves to pour the aggregate into the pan one by one and note the values.

• Click on the empty pan to place it on the weighing balance.

• Click on spatula to take out sodium sulphate.

• Click on the pan to place it on the weighing balance and weigh 215gm of sodium sulphate.

• Click on the measuring cylinder to pour water into the beaker and prepare solution of sodium sulphate 215gm per litre.

• Click on the measuring cylinder to pour water for 16 to 18 hours.

• Click on the wire bucket to drain the sodium sulphate solution from each of the aggregate samples.

• Click on the sieve to place them in an oven for 4 to 6 hours at 110 degree celsius.

• Click on the wire bucket after 5 cycles to wash samples.

• Click on the sieve to place again in dry oven.

• Click on the sieve to check loss weight.

• Click on the weight to calculate weight.

• Click on the sieve to calculate weight.

• Click on the sieve to check the loss weight.

• Click on the weight to calculate weight.

• Click on the sieve to calculate weight.

• Click on the sieve to check the loss weight.

• Click on the weight to calculate weight.

• Click on the sieve to calculate weight.

• Click on the sieve to check the loss weight.

B. Soundness of Fine Aggregates
• Click on the link for the test of the fine aggregate

• Follow the same steps from Step 1 to Step 11 as described for coarse aggregates.
