Procedure

These procedure steps will be followed on the simulator.

1. Open the double ring infiltrometer test and hover over the description to read the definition, click on the arrow given in the bottom right corner to move to the next step.

2. Click on the given field options to select one. And click on the arrow given at the bottom right corner to move to the next step.

3. Click on the inner ring to place the ring onto the selected field.

4. Next click on the driving plate to place it over the inner ring.

5. Next click on the hand to hammer the inner ring using the driving plate.

6. Now click on the driving plate to take off the driving plate from the top of the inner ring.

7. Answer the pop up question by selecting the correct option.

8. Then click on the arrow button given at the bottom right corner to move to the next step.

9. Now click on the outer ring to place the outer ring of the infiltrometer.

10. Next click on the driving plate to place it over the outer ring.

11. Next click on the hand to hammer the outer ring using driving plate.

12. Now click on the driving plate to take off the driving plate from top of the outer ring.

13. Then click on the arrow button given at the bottom right corner to move to next step 3.

14. Click on plate to place it onto the water level indicator.

15. Next click on the water level indicator to place it into the centre of the inner ring of the double ring infiltrometer.

    

16. Click on the arrow given at the bottom right corner to move to the next step.

    

17. Click on the bucket to pour water into both the rings.

    

18. Answer the pop up question by selecting the correct option.

    

19. Click on arrow given at the bottom right corner to move to the next step.

    

20. Click on stopwatch to start the timer. The water starts infiltrating into the soil.

    

21. Click on the bucket to refill the infiltrometer rings and note down the readings.

    

22. Click on the arrow button given at the button right corner to move to the observation table.

    

23. With the help of observations and given equations calculate the infiltration rate and cumulative infiltration and insert the values into the table then click on the check button to verify results.

24. Insert the average and accumulated infiltration depth values then click on check button. And verify results by clicking on results button.

    

25. Finally hover over the inference of the experiment and reload the page to repeat the experiment by selecting another field option.
