Creep Test Experiment

After performing this experiment, the learner will be able to:

  1. Understand the concept of creep and time-dependent deformation in engineering materials.
  2. Study the creep behaviour of lead under a constant applied load.
  3. Observe how deformation increases with time even when the applied load remains constant.
  4. Measure the extension of the specimen at regular time intervals during the test.
  5. Plot the variation of extension with time and identify the creep behaviour.
  6. Understand the influence of temperature and material properties on creep.
  7. Recognize the importance of creep analysis in the design of structures and machine components subjected to sustained loading.
