Compression Test Experiment
The aim of this experiment is to study the behaviour of a material under compressive loading and determine its compressive strength using a compression testing machine.
The test helps in understanding how materials deform and resist forces that tend to shorten or crush them. By gradually applying a compressive load to a standard specimen, important properties such as proportional limit, elastic limit, yield strength, and compressive strength can be determined.
Compression testing is particularly useful for materials such as cast iron, concrete, stone, brick, and other materials that are commonly subjected to compressive forces in engineering applications.
