Instructions for Performing the Simon Task
  • The task will present words "LEFT" and "RIGHT" on the screen, either on the left or right side.
  • Your goal is to respond based on the word itself, not its location on the screen:
    • When you see the word "LEFT," press the "A" key on your keyboard.
    • When you see the word "RIGHT," press the "L" key on your keyboard.
    • Note: The keys are case sensitive and must be lower case.
  • Do not be confused by the location of the word on the screen. For example:
    • If the word "LEFT" appears on the right side of the screen, press "A".
    • If the word "RIGHT" appears on the left side of the screen, press "L".
  • Try to respond as quickly and accurately as possible. Your reaction times and accuracy will be recorded.
  • Once the experiment is completed, you can view the results, which will show the time taken (in milliseconds) for each of your responses.
  • Remember, the experiment will include both congruent trials (where the word and location match) and incongruent trials (where the word and location do not match).
  • Click the spacebar to start the experiment.
  • Good luck, and enjoy the experiment!

Note: Please wait after clicking space. It may take time to start the experiment.
