Instructions for Performing the Simon Task
- The task will present words "LEFT" and "RIGHT" on the screen, either on the left or right side.
- Your goal is to respond based on the word itself, not its location on the screen:
- When you see the word "LEFT," press the "A" key on your keyboard.
- When you see the word "RIGHT," press the "L" key on your keyboard.
- Note: The keys are case sensitive and must be lower case.
- Do not be confused by the location of the word on the screen. For example:
- If the word "LEFT" appears on the right side of the screen, press "A".
- If the word "RIGHT" appears on the left side of the screen, press "L".
- Try to respond as quickly and accurately as possible. Your reaction times and accuracy will be recorded.
- Once the experiment is completed, you can view the results, which will show the time taken (in milliseconds) for each of your responses.
- Remember, the experiment will include both congruent trials (where the word and location match) and incongruent trials (where the word and location do not match).
- Click the spacebar to start the experiment.
- Good luck, and enjoy the experiment!
