Hall-Effect : Determination of carrier concentration

Objective controls

  1.  To determine the Hall voltage developed across the sample material.
  2.  To calculate the Hall coefficient and the carrier concentration of the sample material.

Two solenoids, Constant current supply, Four probe, Digital gauss meter, Hall effect apparatus (which consist of Constant Current Generator (CCG),digital milli voltmeter and Hall probe).

Instructions

  1. Select the "Magnetic Field vs Current" procedure from 'Select Procedure' dropdown menu.
  2. Click on the 'Insert Hall Sensor' button to insert the sensor into the electromagnet.
  3. Click on the 'Add to Table' button to add current and magnetic field values to the table.
  4. Click on the 'Observation' button to view the table.
  5. Click on the 'IBgraph' button to view the graph.
  6. Change the procedure to "Hall Effect" to calculate the hall voltage.
  7. Click on the 'Insert Probe' button to insert the probe into the electromagnet.
  8. Select the material from the "Select the material" dropdown menu.
  9. Adjust the current using 'Current' slider.
  10. Click on the 'Add to Table' button to add hall voltage and magnetic field values to the table.
  11. Click on the 'Observation' button to view the table.
  12. Click on the 'Plot a graph' button to view the V/B graph.
  13. Clear the observation table before changing the material.
  14. Click on the "Show Result" button to view the result
